Jim Bristow Cup - Masters Juniors Tournament proudly presented by VMSA & Inform
The Masters Juniors Tournament fondly known as the Jim Bristow Cup has become one of the most unique and enjoyable events on the Victorian squash calendar. The format brings together two generations of players by pairing an experienced Masters player with an emerging Junior, creating a team dynamic that celebrates mentorship, learning and competitive spirit. It provides a rare opportunity for players of different ages and experience levels to share the court, compete together and strengthen the connections within the squash community.
Each year the event welcomes new junior players partnering with experienced Masters competitors, creating fresh teams and exciting matchups throughout the day. Clubs from across Victoria and interstate regions travel to take part, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere that has made this tournament a favourite on the annual calendar.
The tournament has proudly supported the development of junior players over the years, with generous long‑time supporters providing sponsorship such as squash rackets, equipment, and cash prizes to assist with training and competition.
The Jim Bristow Cup is hosted each year at Westerfolds Squash Centre in Templestowe, a family‑run venue with a strong history in Victorian squash dating back to the 1950s. Now operated by the Kent family, Westerfolds is a leading racquet sports centre and a long‑time supporter of junior development and community events, making it an ideal home for the tournament.
The Jim Bristow Cup is jointly presented by the VMSA and Inform, founded in 2004 by long‑time squash supporters Steve and Lisa Walton. Inform, through Squash.com.au, is Australia’s leading squash equipment supplier and a strong supporter of junior development through ongoing sponsorship.
This popular event returns following the outstanding response in previous years, with last year’s tournament reaching full capacity. As this is a one day event, team places are limited and entries are expected to fill quickly, so players are encouraged to register early to avoid disappointment.
Juniors (U23) as at 31 May 2026 may enter with a Master’s (Men over 35, Women over 30) partner of their choice, or the VMSA can assist in pairing Junior and Masters players who are looking for a partner. Teams are graded based on the ability of the Junior player to ensure balanced and competitive matches throughout the day.
First Round Times will be available on the website from Thursday 28 May 2026.
